Apple has released the third beta of iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 for developers. The updates can be downloaded from the Settings app on compatible devices by going to General > Software Update.
The new betas bring minor design changes, including more options for reverting the Mail app back to its previous design and improved accessibility features like AppleCare info. The update also includes behind-the-scenes bug fixes and performance improvements.
Apple is transitioning to iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, which are expected to be previewed in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
Meanwhile, rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models have been circulating. The devices are expected to feature an aluminum frame and may have some compromises compared to their Pro Max counterparts.
In other news, a developer has successfully run Windows 11 ARM on an M2 iPad Air using emulation, thanks to new EU regulatory changes. Additionally, Apple Stores are now giving away free enamel pins inspired by the Global Close Your Rings Day award in the Activity app.
The company’s $570 million fine from the EU has also triggered a rebuke from the White House, which described it as economic extortion. Furthermore, leaks suggest that iPadOS 19 will feature a macOS-like menu bar when connected to a Magic Keyboard, further blurring the lines between iPads and Macs.
