Apple is reportedly on track to launch the M5 iPad Pro and MacBook Pro later this year. The M5 chip has reached the late stages of testing, putting it “on track for production in the second half of this year.” According to Mark Gurman, Apple’s upcoming M5 chip may be used in at least two devices before the end of 2024.
However, Apple’s shift towards its in-house modem technology is expected to happen in 2027. The M6 models, which will introduce this new technology, have already begun early work on the project. Apple previously introduced its first in-house cellular modem, the C1, with the iPhone 16e in February this year.
The M5 iPad Pro’s arrival could be delayed until next year if it incorporates the in-house modem. Currently, the exact launch timeline for both devices is unclear.
