Samsung Display will produce the crease-free displays for Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone in 2026. The South Korean company has secured a major win after winning the contract, according to industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo. This move suggests that Apple trusts Samsung Display more than itself to ensure stable mass production of the foldable iPhone.
Apple is late to the foldable game, but with only 4% of the market share accounted for by foldable phones globally, it’s still a relatively young market. A crease-free iPhone would be a notable innovation in foldable technology, following Huawei’s $2,600 Mate X and Samsung’s latest Flip and Fold.
Some analysts have expressed caution about Apple partnering with Samsung Display, citing the limited success of foldable phones in the consumer market. However, others believe that it makes sense given Samsung’s expertise and long-standing partnership with Apple.
Industry expert Mike Wuerthele notes that deploying a company like Samsung Display is a strategic move for Apple, which has traditionally partnered with Samsung on iPhone screen technology.
