Apple Teases New Chip for Home Devices in 2025

Apple is reportedly developing a new chip, codenamed “Proxima,” that could simplify its devices and reduce reliance on Broadcom’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components. The Proxima chip will be manufactured by TSMC and may debut in the HomePod Mini, Apple TV, iPhones, iPads, and Macs in 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Sources indicate that the chip has been in development for several years and is a significant transition for Apple’s devices. Additionally, Apple is working on a standalone security camera and a wall-mounted smart display to further enhance its home device offerings. While no specific release dates have been mentioned, Gurman suggests that the new HomePod Mini and Apple TV may debut next year as part of this new initiative.
