Apple is set to unveil five new Apple Watch models next month, which may feature a groundbreaking custom wireless chip and 5G connectivity. The devices, including the Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3, are expected to have minimal design changes from their predecessors.
According to internal code published by Macworld, the new watches will be powered by a chip based on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 10’s CPU, which may not offer significant performance gains. However, Apple has been working on improving other internal components, such as a “Proxima” module that matches the name of its custom wireless chip.
The presence of this chip could enable better optimization of wireless connections, reducing energy consumption. Additionally, at least one new model is rumored to feature a 5G modem, potentially the Ultra 3, offering faster cellular connectivity.
While Apple’s plans can change before launch, the leaked code suggests that these devices will be an interesting addition to its wearable lineup.
