Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has confirmed that Apple will launch a foldable iPhone in 2026. The product is expected to be similar in design to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, rather than a clamshell folding device.
The new Apple foldable will utilize technologies from the upcoming ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, which boasts a record-breaking thickness of just 5.5mm. Although it may have some compromises, such as limited speaker and camera capabilities, the phone promises to deliver the full iPhone experience with good battery life.
Gurman estimates that the foldable iPhone will be priced around $2000, but production volumes may take time to ramp up, potentially leading to initial availability issues. If successful, it could become part of the iPhone 18 lineup and feature a 5.5-inch outer display alongside an 7.8-inch inner display.
This development marks another step in Apple’s exploration of foldable technology, which is expected to play a significant role in future iPhones.
