Apple is reportedly working on a major design overhaul for its MacBook Pro lineup, set to be revealed next year. The overhaul is expected to bring significant changes to the laptops, including an OLED display, thinner design, and a new M6 chip.
According to reports, the 2026 MacBook Pro will feature an OLED display, which promises improved brightness, contrast ratios, and color accuracy. The display’s Two-Stack Tandem technology, consisting of two layers of red, green, and blue pixels, is expected to increase brightness while extending its longevity.
The laptop’s design is also expected to undergo a significant change, with Apple adopting a thinner form factor. While details are scarce, Bloomberg notes that the initial plan was to launch this redesign in 2025 but had to be delayed due to display technology setbacks.
One of the most notable upgrades will be the introduction of Apple’s M6 chip, manufactured on TSMC’s 2nm process, which promises improvements in performance and power efficiency. The laptop will likely be available in both 14-inch and 16-inch models, with various variants catering to different levels of professional workloads.
Before the major redesign arrives, an interim MacBook Pro refresh is expected later this year, featuring the M5 chip. This update will serve as a bridge between the current models and the 2026 overhaul, primarily focusing on internal performance improvements rather than design changes.
The rumors suggest that Apple’s next-generation laptops will deliver improved visuals, reduced size, and enhanced power efficiency, setting a new standard for professional-grade laptops in the market.
