Apple is reportedly planning to release iPhones in two splits per year, starting with the 2026 lineup. The premium versions of the iPhone 18 series, including the first foldable iPhone, will be launched in September 2026. In contrast, the base model iPhone 18 and a lower-end version called iPhone 18e are expected to debut in the first half of 2027.

Priyadarshi also sees benefits from this schedule from a customer perspective. New models will be released in the fall, targeting those who want the latest and most advanced features. In contrast, spring releases can cater to buyers seeking more affordable upgrades. However, Apple needs to clearly communicate the differences between regular and premium models to avoid confusing consumers.
The decision comes as Apple recently reported a 2% decline in iPhone shipments in the second quarter of this year. The company’s response to the market shift will be closely watched by analysts and investors.
