Apple’s plans for its Mac lineup have been clarified, with a prominent analyst suggesting that the new M5 chip will debut with the MacBook Pro models later this year. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that the M5 iteration of Apple’s custom silicon will arrive with the launch of the MacBook Pro models in the second half of 2025.
The new M5 chip is expected to bring significant performance gains, particularly in terms of computational and graphical capabilities. The upgrade cycle is likely to begin with the forthcoming MacBook Pro models, which are expected to feature no major design changes.
However, the release date for Apple’s iPad Pro has been pushed back, according to Gurman’s report. The device may not be upgraded until the end of 2025 or early 2026, depending on how quickly the company decides to roll out the new M5 chip.
