Apple is struggling to adapt its virtual assistant Siri for the new era of generative AI. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may not release a modernized Siri until iOS 20 in 2027. However, a significant update is expected soon.
A new version of Siri will debut in May, integrating all Apple Intelligence features announced nearly a year ago. This updated Siri will have two brains: one for basic tasks like setting timers and making calls, and another for more advanced queries that leverage user data. The next step, called “LLM Siri,” is expected to be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2026.
Only then can Apple fully develop Siri’s advanced capabilities, which might roll out a year later.
