Apple TV+ dominated the 2025 Emmy Awards nominations with Severance earning 27 nods in drama, The Studio securing 23 nods in comedy, and Shrinking making big strides with seven nominations.
“It’s thrilling and gratifying,” said Matt Cherniss, head of development at Apple TV+, about the show’s success. “I think most of all, I’m just happy for the shows themselves, the talent involved, all the time and effort they put into doing something original and different.” The Studio, a show about Hollywood, broke records with its nominations, while Severance, a sci-fi drama, had a three-year gap between seasons.
Cherniss praised Shrinking’s life-affirming tone and heartwarming stories. “It’s amazing to be a small part of Harrison Ford’s long resume and career,” he said. Apple TV+ is also proud of Pachinko, a show about hope and aspiration. The company hopes to bring the show back for another season.
Severance Season 3 is in production, but Cherniss wouldn’t elaborate on details. Ted Lasso will return with a fourth season, while Your Friends & Neighbors has done well on the platform with its early Season 2 renewal. With five-plus years into their original programming journey, Apple TV+ reflects on continued growth and excitement for upcoming series like Chief of War and The Morning Show Season 4.
