Apple TV+ Prices Rise for New Subscribers

Apple has announced a price increase for some users of its streaming service, Apple TV+. The monthly fee will rise from $9.99 to $12.99, starting Thursday, primarily targeting new U.S. subscribers and certain international markets. Existing customers won’t see the change until 30 days after their next renewal date.

This move comes despite Apple’s recent price hike in October 2023. However, unlike that increase, this one affects only some users. The annual subscription cost for Apple TV+ remains unchanged, as does the cost of Apple One – a bundled subscription service.

The company claims to have expanded its library with exclusive originals and ad-free programming. Nevertheless, it trails competitors like Netflix and Disney+ in subscriber numbers.

Apple’s estimated 40 million subscribers by the end of 2024 can’t compare to Netflix’s 300 million during the same period. The company is losing over $1 billion annually on Apple TV+, as reported by The Information in March.
