Apple Unveils 2025 Smart Home Display with Siri-Activated Controls

Apple has officially confirmed its latest smart home product, a wall-mounted display that resembles an iPad-esque hub for controlling smart devices. The device, code-named J490, is expected to launch in March 2025 and will feature a six-inch touch display, built-in camera, rechargeable battery, and speakers.

The device’s interface will be voice-activated through Siri commands, with the ability to shift dynamically based on proximity. It also integrates Apple Intelligence, a custom version of watchOS and iOS Standby Mode, for precise control over applications and tasks.

Designed as a centralized solution for controlling HomeKit-compatible smart home devices, the display is expected to feature attachments and bases that can be placed around the home. Sensors will detect nearby individuals, allowing users to seamlessly transfer tasks between devices. The device’s standalone nature suggests multiple units may be purchased to cover entire homes.

Apple’s vision includes expanding its product line with innovative features like a robotic limb holding the display, potentially priced at $1,000. The new smart home panel is expected to retail in silver and black, mirroring existing products from Amazon Echo Hub ($180) and Google Nest Hub Max ($230).
