Apple has released its latest update, iOS 18.4, which brings several new features to users’ devices. In addition to eight new emojis, the update includes improvements for Apple Vision Pro users, enhanced intelligence features, and new capabilities for Apple News+, Apple Photos, and Safari.
The new emojis include a face with bags under its eyes, fingerprint, splatter, harp, flag of Sark, root vegetable, shovel, leafless tree, and more. These additions are part of the update’s focus on expanding users’ expression options.
For Apple Vision Pro users, the update introduces writing tools for proofreading, rewriting, and summarizing text, as well as a feature to create emojis using Genmoji. Users can also utilize Image Playground for the first time, which transforms descriptions or concepts into new images powered by Apple Intelligence.
Apple has also enhanced its intelligence features on iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pros, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, providing users with priority notifications that require immediate attention. Additionally, the update adds support for eight more languages and two English locales, further expanding accessibility.
The update brings several new features to Apple News+, including recipes, a searchable catalog of user-saved dishes, and cooking mode with step-by-step directions. The food section also includes stories about restaurants and cooking tips.
Apple Photos users can now utilize search filters that hide items not contained in albums or synced from Macs or PCs. Users can also reorder media types and utilities collections and sort by oldest or newest first.
Safari users can take advantage of the “recent search” suggestion feature to quickly access previous search topics. The setup assistant has been streamlined for parents creating child accounts, and limits remain in place even if a child uninstalls and reinstalls an app.
The App Store now provides user review summaries, allowing users to get a quick look at what others are saying about apps. Users can also pause and resume app downloads without losing progress.
Finally, Apple has added support for 10 new system languages, further enhancing the accessibility of its ecosystem.
