Apple Unveils AI-Powered Features for iPhone and Mac Users

Apple has released its latest update, bringing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to its iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. The update, available today via iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS 15.2, includes the popular ChatGPT chatbot, as well as Apple’s visual intelligence feature for camera searches.

The update provides users with a range of AI-powered tools, including ChatGPT, which is now available through Siri and Writing Tools. Users can access ChatGPT without sharing their data with OpenAI, the bot’s creator, unless they choose to sign into their accounts.

Visual Intelligence allows users to search for objects using their iPhone’s camera. Simply point your phone at an object, and the feature will take care of the rest. Visual Intelligence is available on the iPhone 16 line and certain newer models, including the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

The update also includes Apple’s Image Playground and Genmoji features, which use natural language to create fun, kitschy images. Users can ask these services to generate pictures based on their selfies or descriptions.

While Apple is banking on AI-powered features to boost iPhone sales, there’s limited evidence that the updates are pushing users to upgrade their devices sooner than later. Nevertheless, this marks an important step in Apple’s quest to spread powerful AI capabilities across its devices.
