Apple Unveils AI-Powered Features in Latest iOS 18.2 Beta

Apple has released the third beta for iOS 18.2, allowing users who have joined the Apple Intelligence waitlist to test some of its new AI-powered features. Although these features are not yet ready for primetime, they offer a glimpse into what’s to come. Here are four key features:

Firstly, Image Playground is a text-to-image generative AI tool that allows users to type in descriptions and generate images based on those inputs. This feature can also use existing photos as inspiration and even suggest additions to enhance the image.

Next up is Genmoji, an AI-generated emoji feature that uses either text descriptions or existing photo references to create custom emojis. Users can share their creations through the Messages app.

Visual Intelligence is a practical feature exclusive to iPhone 16 users, which provides camera-based information about objects focused on, such as service hours or user reviews. It also detects phone numbers and addresses in images and offers features like copying and pasting text.

Lastly, Siri’s ChatGPT enhancements allow users to consult AI-powered answers for unsatisfactory questions. This feature doesn’t require creating an account and presents ChatGPT responses with a seamless interface.

To test these new features, users can download the iOS 18.2 beta by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. However, be aware that beta versions may have rough edges, so make sure to create a backup before installing.
