Apple has announced a new dedicated gaming app called Games, which will come pre-installed on Mac, iPhone, and iPad with macOS Tahoe 26 and iOS 26 this fall. The app is an updated version of Game Center and offers features like leaderboards, matchmaking, recommendations, news, and game launching. Users can also see what their friends are playing and challenge them to specific feats.
The Games app will have a library tab featuring all the games users have downloaded from the App Store, allowing for easy access. On Mac, the app includes an overlay that provides communication tools, audio controls, Bluetooth connections, and live battery levels at any time.
This new gaming push from Apple comes as the company continues to support AAA experiences on mobile and Mac devices, including recent releases like Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The announcement coincides with the start of the WWDC 2025 conference, where Apple is expected to announce more details about its gaming initiative.
