Apple has released the latest version of its iPhone operating system, iOS 26, with a new aesthetic called Liquid Glass that promises to refresh the home and lock screens. The update is set to arrive this fall, bringing several exciting changes to the iPhone experience.
Liquid Glass design, touted as a “new translucent material,” offers a fresh look with clear apps and widgets. However, it still adapts to dark and light modes, depending on surroundings. Buttons in various apps, like Phone and Maps, have been redesigned for a more streamlined feel.
Among the notable features of iOS 26 are:
* A revamped Phone app that allows scrolling through contacts, recent calls, and voicemail messages on one screen
* Hold Assist, which notifies you when an agent picks up your call
* Live Translation in Phone, FaceTime, and Messages, enabling real-time conversations with non-native speakers
* Polls in group chats for easier decision-making
* Filtering unknown senders in Messages to eliminate spam texts
* Visual Intelligence, a reverse Google image search feature that allows users to find similar items online
Photos apps fans will be happy to know that tabs are back. Library and Collections have separate spaces, making it easier to navigate.
iOS 26 is available for download via the Apple Beta Software Program, with the public beta expected to arrive in July. The final version of iOS 26 will likely drop this fall, around September, as part of the iPhone release cycle.
