Apple Unveils Long-Awaited Purchase Migration Feature

Apple has finally released a support document detailing its new feature to migrate purchases between accounts. Users with long online histories can now move orphaned content from old accounts to their primary device-linked account. To initiate the process, users can access the “Media & Purchases” section within their named account section in the Settings app on an iPhone or iPad.

The migration process is fairly involved and comes with a few limitations. For instance, purchases made through child’s accounts inside Family Sharing cannot be migrated. Additionally, users are restricted to migrating purchases only once a year. Complications may arise when music libraries exist on both accounts, or if the primary account has not been used for purchases or downloads.

The feature is currently unavailable in the EU, UK, and India. Despite these limitations, Apple’s new feature aims to simplify the process of transferring purchased content between users with long online histories.
