Apple has released a surprise new feature, dubbed the “Invites” app, which allows users to send digital invitations to parties and events. The app is available now as an iPhone-only download, free for iCloud+ subscribers.
The Invites app integrates with Apple Maps and Weather, providing guests with directions to the event and the forecast for that day. Users can create original images through Image Playground on compatible iPhones, adding a personal touch to invitations.
Invitations can be generated quickly, including time, date, and location details, making it easy to send and receive information. There’s granular control over who can invite others, with options to add photos, music playlists, or notes.
Although the app is primarily designed for iPhone users, a web-based version is available on iCloud.com, allowing Android users to access invitations as well. The Invites app is expected to work seamlessly with the Calendar app and iMessage, providing a convenient way to invite friends to events.
