Apple is set to launch a new events and invites service, dubbed “Confetti”, as part of iCloud, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The new app aims to revamp the calendar app, which has been a long-term project for Apple.
The report suggests that Confetti will be integrated with iOS 18.3, which began rolling out last month. The app is expected to provide additional features beyond what the current Calendar app offers. Code analysis reveals that Confetti will integrate with iCloud and have a web version on iCloud.com, as well as leverage a new iOS daemon called GroupKit.
The new app’s design aims to simplify event organization and provide a more user-friendly interface for inviting friends to parties or meetings. It is unclear whether Confetti will be a standalone app or integrated with other parts of the system, such as a mini iMessage app.
Apple has been aiming to revamp the Calendar app for years, and this new service marks an important step forward. The launch is expected to take place “this coming week”, although no further details have been released.
