Apple is set to release the first beta of iOS 18.4, a major update that will bring significant upgrades to its virtual assistant, Siri. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the update will be available for developers “fairly soon,” with a likely release date between this week and early next week.
The iOS 18.4 update is expected to introduce personal context understanding, on-screen awareness, and app control capabilities, as well as Priority Notifications that utilize AI to highlight important notifications. The update will also expand Apple Intelligence support to more languages for the first time, with Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese becoming available.
In addition to language updates, iOS 18.4 is likely to add new emojis, including a fingerprint, face with bags under the eyes, harp, root vegetable, leafless tree, splatter, and shovel. Users will have the opportunity to test out these features once the update becomes available.
