Apple Unveils Thinnest iPhone Yet, iPhone 17 Air Redefines Thin Design

Apple is reportedly working on its next-generation iPhones, with a focus on creating the thinnest devices possible. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company aims to launch custom 5G modems for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac early next year, starting with the release of the SE 4.

The iPhone 17 ‘Air’ is expected to be the thinnest iPhone ever made, measuring just 6.25mm in thickness, which is 2mm thinner than the current iPhone 16 Pro models. This design shift would mark a significant change for Apple, which has gradually shifted to heftier designs since the release of the iPhone 6.

The iPhone 17 Air will feature a unique design, with the rest of the models following the same design as the current iPhone 16 series. The device is also expected to be priced higher than its internal specifications, solely based on its thin design. Apple’s custom 5G modem will be a key feature of the iPhone 17 Air, although it may not match the performance of Qualcomm’s modems.

The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to have a part-aluminum-part-glass design, potentially replacing titanium as the premium finish for the ‘Pro’ models. However, details on this design are still scarce. With Apple’s focus on thin designs, the entire industry is expected to take notice and follow suit.
