Apple has released iOS 18.2, along with major security updates and a new Intelligence feature suite. The update includes fixes for critical vulnerabilities in the iPhone’s kernel, WebKit engine, and Safari browser. Additionally, it patches a list of flaws affecting iPadOS 17.7.3 for compatible devices.
The new version of iOS 18 includes patches for three Kernel flaws, one in libexpat, two in libxpc, and four in WebKit. It also addresses a flaw in the Passwords app that could allow an attacker to execute code on your device.
CISA has issued a warning urging users to apply necessary updates, citing potential exploitation of these vulnerabilities by cyber threat actors. Malwarebytes researchers have also sounded a warning about several vulnerabilities patched in popular applications, including libexpat and Audio components of macOS.
With the ability to choose whether to upgrade to iOS 18 now halted, it’s essential for iPhone users to update to ensure security fixes are applied. The new Intelligence feature suite, integrated with Siri, adds a cool aspect to the update. Apple recommends updating as soon as possible, especially considering the lack of support for older devices.
