Apple Wallet Expands Car Key Support to Toyota and Rivian

Apple’s Wallet app has long been a target for expanding its features, and car keys are one area that has seen significant progress in recent months. The latest update brings two major brands, Toyota and Rivian, on board with their support for car keys.

The integration of these two brands comes after years of work by Apple, which initially announced 13 vehicle manufacturers who would support car keys in June last year. It took longer than expected to see the first implementations, but Toyota began supporting Apple Wallet car keys in February with its 2026 RAV4, followed by Rivian’s second-gen R1S and R1T in late December.

The rollout of car key support for other brands is nearing completion, with Porsche and General Motors, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC, all set to join the list. Porsche announced that its 2026 electric Macan and Cayenne will feature car keys, while GM confirmed that several vehicles would add support soon after announcing its partnership in December.

The expansion of Apple Wallet’s car key features is a significant step towards the company’s goal of making its app a comprehensive digital wallet. With many more brands on the horizon, it remains to be seen how quickly these launches will happen.
