Apple Warns iPhone Users to Remove Google Chrome Over Privacy Concerns

Apple has issued a warning to its iPhone users to remove the popular browser Google Chrome from their devices. The company cites concerns over user privacy and suggests that alternative browsers like Safari, which it claims prioritizes user data protection, are more secure.

The move comes after Google announced on Tuesday that it would no longer phase out third-party cookies in Chrome, sparking renewed criticism over the browser’s ad-tracking capabilities. Third-party cookies allow advertisers and websites to monitor users’ online behavior, a major source of revenue for Google.

Apple’s video, “Privacy on iPhone: Flock,” released in 2024, highlights the risks associated with using Chrome, including its reliance on Federated Learning of Cohorts (FLoC) technology, which groups users based on their online behavior. Google eventually scrapped this system in favor of a new ad-targeting method that raised even more privacy concerns.

In contrast, Safari enables more robust data protection measures, making it a better option for iPhone users concerned about their online security. However, some websites may still display cautionary warnings advising users to use alternative browsers due to compatibility issues with Safari.
