Apple Watch Blood Oxygen Feature Gets Redesign in U.S.

Apple has announced plans to update its Blood Oxygen feature on some Apple Watch models available in the US through a software update. Starting today, iPhone and Apple Watch users with Series 9, Series 10, or Ultra 2 watches can expect an enhanced version of the app.

To access this new feature, users need to upgrade their paired iPhone to iOS 18.6.1 and their Apple Watch to watchOS 11.6.1. The updated Blood Oxygen data will be measured on the paired iPhone and displayed in the Respiratory section of the Health app.

It’s worth noting that the update is only available for US-based users, as it was enabled by a recent U.S. Customs ruling. Existing Apple Watch models with original Blood Oxygen feature or those purchased outside the US remain unaffected.

The updated Apple Watch features an array of health and wellness tools, including irregular rhythm notifications, ECG app, sleep tracking, and more. These enhancements aim to empower users with industry-leading health features that prioritize science-backed solutions and user privacy.
