Apple Watch Gets Liquid Glass Design and AI-Powered Fitness Features

Apple has announced several new features coming to its WatchOS 26 operating system, which will be rolled out on the latest Apple Watches over the next few months. The updates touch various aspects of fitness, messages, and user experience.

The most anticipated design update is the “Liquid Glass” treatment, which gives the Apple Watch interface a fluid and clear display inspired by VisionOS’s visual interface. This will change how icons and notifications appear on the watch, making them more transparent and visually appealing.

In addition to the design update, Apple has also introduced AI-powered fitness features, including Workout Buddy, which provides personalized insights and encouragement during workouts. The feature is available in several workout types and uses the user’s fitness data history to deliver feedback.

Other notable updates include improvements to Smart Stack’s prediction algorithm, self-aware notifications that adjust volume based on ambient noise, Live Translation, and Messages that suggest relevant actions. A new hand motion, Wrist Flick, allows users to dismiss notifications and calls with a simple wrist movement.

WatchOS 26 is supported on the latest Apple Watches, including the Series 9, Series 10, and Ultra 2 models. Users can download the OS and try out the beta software, but be aware that it may have some bugs.
