Apple Watch Owners Eligible for $20 Million Settlement

Apple has agreed to pay $20 million to settle a lawsuit related to battery swelling issues in its older Apple Watch models, including the Series 1, 2, and 3. The affected watches were produced between April 24th, 2015 and February 6, 2024.

Owners of these watches who experienced battery swelling are eligible for a payout, which can range from $20 to $50 per watch, depending on the specific model and reporting date. To receive the payment, claimants must have reported any issues to Apple before April 10th, and opt-out by February 24, 2025.

The settlement is part of a class-action lawsuit filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Apple denies all allegations of wrongdoing, but claims it wants to “avoid further costs of litigation.”
