Apple’s upcoming third-gen Apple Watch SE is facing significant challenges, including its plastic casing, which has raised concerns among design and operations teams. Initially designed to be a more “kid-friendly” version with vibrant colors, the plastic body was touted as environmentally friendly, featuring recycled plastic from the ocean.
However, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the design team disapproves of the look, while the operations team struggles to make the plastic casing cheaper than aluminum. This has put the launch in “serious jeopardy.” It is unclear whether Apple will delay or proceed with the release later this year.
Meanwhile, the Apple Watch SE 3 is also facing issues with blood-pressure tracking technology. Despite initial rumors of its debut on the Series 10 last year, the feature remains untested and uncertain for this year’s model. The challenges highlight the complexities involved in developing new features for Apple Watches.
