Apple Working On Advanced Wireless Reverse Charging Feature

Apple has been working on wireless reverse charging for a long time, but it hasn’t been fully implemented in any iPhone model yet. The feature allows a smartphone’s wireless charging coils to work in both directions, enabling devices to be charged. This technology is common on Android phones and can charge low-power devices like AirPods and the Apple Watch.

The latest report suggests that Apple is testing an advanced version of the feature in prototypes of the iPhone 17 Pro. The new version will have better charging speeds, heat dissipation, and efficiency. It will also include a special user interface with on-screen animations and sound effects to teach users how to use the feature.

Although the component needed for wireless reverse charging was found in an iPhone 12 teardown, Apple didn’t enable full MagSafe/Qi support, which is why it hasn’t been fully activated yet. The company is working to develop a more advanced version of the feature, with ambitions bigger than what has been seen so far.
