Apple has discovered references to an upcoming feature called Adaptive Temperature, which could revolutionize smart home automation. This new option is closely linked to Apple Maps and aims to learn users’ habits and daily movements to adjust thermostat settings accordingly.
According to developer Steve Moser, the beta version of iOS 26 contains code for this feature, which would automatically lower temperature when the user is away from home and raise it before returning. The system would work fully on-device with end-to-end encryption, ensuring that Apple does not have access to personal data.
While its presence in betagreen iOS 26 suggests development progress, it’s uncertain whether Adaptive Temperature will make it into the final version. Nevertheless, this feature aligns with Apple’s goal of connecting smart maps to smart homes and providing users with automation without complex setup.
If successful, Adaptive Temperature would be another step towards a home that adapts to our needs while maintaining an emphasis on privacy. However, its availability in certain regions, such as the Czech Republic, remains uncertain due to limitations with Preferred Routes and Visited Places.
