Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) is set to reveal its biggest software overhaul in years. The new operating system, codenamed Solarium, is expected to make iPhone users feel like they’re using a whole new device. Here are the latest details.
The new OS, designated as iOS 26, will have the same number as the year it’s updated, following the pattern set by watchOS 26 and other Apple platforms. The Vision Pro’s software update jumps from visionOS 2 to visionOS 26.
Design-wise, iOS 26 is expected to feature a light, translucent look, similar to the Vision Pro. The software will be designed alongside new versions of iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV operating systems, providing a cohesive feel between devices.
Key upgrades include productivity enhancements, such as improved Wi-Fi sign-in sharing and integration with Apple Intelligence models. There’s also an AI-powered battery management system that will extend device battery life.
Other notable features include a calligraphy pen for Apple Pencil and live translation for AirPods. The announcement is set to take place on Monday, June 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific, with developer betas arriving shortly after.
