Apple has announced several new features for its upcoming iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe updates, which will be rolled out through an AirPods firmware update. The most notable feature is studio-quality audio recording, allowing users to capture high-fidelity vocals while on the go.
The AirPods 4 and Pro 2 models can now record studio-quality audio for interviews, podcasts, songs, videos, and more. This feature brings natural vocal texture and clarity to iPhone calls, FaceTime calls, and all CallKit-enabled apps like Zoom.
Additionally, the update introduces a camera remote feature, allowing users to take photos or start video recordings using their AirPods as a controller. Users can also pause audio for sleep, automatically switch between audio playback devices when driving, and keep audio in headphones even when connected to external speakers.
The new features will be available to developers today with a beta firmware update for the AirPods, and are expected to launch this fall.
