Apple’s First Foldable Device Targeted for 2026 Release

Apple is reportedly working on its first foldable device, which will be launched in 2026, according to analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities. The device is expected to play a significant role in helping the company recover from lower iPhone sales in 2025.

Pu’s note to investors suggests that the delay in releasing the new Siri experience has lowered market expectations for this year, leading some customers to question upgrading their phones this year. However, he believes Apple’s first foldable device will help “recover the market in 2026” regardless of the company’s AI capabilities.

Production on at least one of Apple’s new foldables is expected to start in the second half of 2026. The device is said to have a 7.8-inch main screen and a 5.5-inch external display, making it similar to an iPad mini when unfolded. Another foldable device with an 18-inch screen is also being developed, which could potentially become a new Mac or iPad.

The analyst’s comments coincide with Ming-Chi Kuo’s previous report that the first foldable iPhone may cost over $2,000 and be released as a premium version of the iPhone.
