Apple’s Foldable iPhone Production Timeline Detailed by Ming-Chi Kuo

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has provided an update on the production timeline of Apple’s foldable iPhone. According to Kuo, Foxconn is expected to “kick off” the project in late Q3 or early Q4 this year, but many component specifications have yet to be finalized.

One key feature of the foldable iPhone is its display. Unlike many Android devices with visible creases, Apple has worked with Samsung Display to create a seamless foldable display. According to Kuo, the foldable display’s specifications are among the few that have been finalized, with annual production capacity planned at 7-8 million panels by Samsung Display.

The device is also expected to feature a stainless steel and titanium alloy hinge, which has drawn market attention but remains unfinalized. Assembly supplier Foxconn is set to start working on the project later this year, while mass production isn’t scheduled until later in 2026.

When released, the foldable iPhone is rumored to have an inner display of approximately 7.8 inches and an outer display of 5.5 inches. The device will reportedly measure around 4.5 mm when unfolded and 9.5 mm when folded.
