Apple’s iOS 18.2 Mail App Gets Major Redesign

Apple’s latest update, iOS 18.2, brings significant changes to the Mail app, including a major redesign that brings more visual appeal and organization features. The new design focuses on contact photos for senders, creating an inbox that looks similar to threads in the Messages app.

The biggest change is the categorization of emails into four sections: Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions. Emails are automatically sorted as they’re received and can be manually adjusted by users. If not liked, messages from a given sender can be sent to a preferred category instead of Apple’s system.

Users who prefer their old unified inbox or don’t want categories altogether can opt for the ‘All Mail’ view or switch back to List View. Additionally, a new Digest view consolidates messages from the same sender together.

The redesign is part of iOS 18.2’s broader updates, which include enhanced Branded Mail tools for businesses and new Apple Intelligence features.
