Apple has confirmed which iPhone models will support its upcoming iOS 26 operating system, and which ones won’t be compatible. The new OS, expected to be released in mid-September, brings several exciting features, including a revamped home screen design called Liquid Glass.

In contrast, the following iPhone models will not be compatible with iOS 26:
* iPhone XR
* iPhone XS
* iPhone XS Max
* iPhone 8 models (due to their older hardware)
As for iPads, Apple has confirmed that the following devices will support iPadOS 26:

* iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation and later)
* iPad Pro 11‑inch (1st generation and later)

* iPad Air (3rd generation and later)

For those who don’t want to upgrade their iPhone this year, it’s worth noting that they will still receive security updates, but may miss out on some features and functionality. The release date for iOS 26 is expected to be announced at the upcoming iPhone 17 event in early September.
