APWU Calls for New PMG with Commitment to Workers, Communities

The Association of Postal Regulatory and Workplace Units (APWU) has welcomed news that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is departing the USPS, stating he will work with the Board of Governors to ensure a smooth transition. The APWU urges the Board to appoint a new PMG who values public service and recognizes the crucial role postal workers play in delivering essential services across the country.

The APWU emphasizes the need for a PMG committed to making the USPS world-class, adapting to the digital age while maintaining its physical network. This requires acknowledging and respecting postal workers’ rights, health, and safety concerns. The union highlights the importance of public servants defending their critical service during times of crisis, such as natural disasters or pandemics.

APWU General President Mark Dimondstein calls for a new PMG who shares the union’s goals of improving services, expanding access, and investing in public servants. By selecting a suitable candidate, the Board can ensure the long-term success of the USPS and maintain its position as a national treasure, serving communities nationwide six days a week.
