Arab Nations Reject Trump’s Gaza Relocation Plan

Arab nations have rejected US President Donald Trump’s suggestion to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring Egypt and Jordan. The powerful countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian Authority, released a joint statement rejecting any plans to move Palestinians out of their territories in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Trump previously told reporters that he would urge Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi to take in Gaza’s now largely homeless population. The US president said moving 1.5 million people away from Gaza might mean “cleaning out” the area.

The statement from Arab nations warns of the threat this plan poses to regional stability, risks expanding conflict, and undermines peace prospects. They emphasize their commitment to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East based on the two-state solution. The international community is urged to help plan and implement a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza to ensure Palestinians remain on their land.

Egypt and Jordan are concerned that Israel would not allow them to return to Gaza once they have left, which could impact their economies and governments. Both countries support the creation of a Palestinian state in the occupied territories.
