Investors in a major private-credit fund, Ares Strategic Income Fund, are rushing to withdraw $1.5 billion of their money, making up 14.4% of the fund’s total value. The request comes from foreign investors, while US investors are withdrawing less.
The fund, which invests in companies with poor credit ratings, has seen an influx of individual investors in recent years due to concerns about potential losses. However, the growth is concerning as these funds often lend money to software companies that may face increased competition from AI.
