The wait is over for fans of the hit Broadway musical ‘Wicked’, as stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have debuted the first trailer for its highly-anticipated sequel, ‘Wicked: For Good’. The movie picks up where the original left off, with Elphaba (Erivo) defying the Wizard’s wishes and on-the-run. Meanwhile, Glinda (Grande) must navigate her relationship with Elphaba as they try to figure out their future together.
The trailer shows key moments from the new film, including a wedding between Glinda and Prince Fiyero, a turning point for Fiyero against the Wizard, and an animal-led revolt in Oz. Erivo and Grande discussed their characters’ journeys, with Erivo saying Elphaba must learn to use her powers for good, while Grande teased that her character’s identity is tied to self-discovery.
Producers have promised more complexity and depth for both characters, as the sequel delves deeper into its connections to ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The film is set to hit theaters on November 21.
