Pop star Ariana Grande is set to join Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller in the newest installment of Universal’s comedy movie series “Meet the Parents.” The Grammy-winning singer will play the fiancée of Stiller’s character. Director John Hamburg co-wrote the screenplay for the new film, which marks his first directorial effort.
The movie is part of a successful franchise that began with the 2000 release of the original film, starring De Niro and Stiller as the main characters. The series follows the universal life event of meeting one’s future father-in-law and has become a commercial and critical hit, grossing over $330 million worldwide.
Grande’s casting in the new film is her first major movie role since earning an Oscar nomination for her performance in “Wicked” last year. She previously turned down several other movie projects, including a Warner Bros. comedy that would have allowed her to choose her co-star.
Production on the film is set to begin soon, with Jane Rosenthal and De Niro producing through their Tribeca Productions, while Stiller will produce with John Lesher via Red Hour Films. The movie is scheduled for release on November 25, 2026.
