Army completed a perfect first season in the American Athletic Conference by beating Tulane 35-14 on Friday night, capping off their first conference championship in 134-year history. The Black Knights’ dominant performance was led by quarterback Bryson Daily, who rushed for four touchdowns and tied the AAC record with 29 this season.
Daily’s impressive display was not just a result of his individual effort but also the team’s overall strategy, which relied heavily on their bruising rushing attack. Army overwhelmed Tulane with their clock-eating rushing attack, which led to 158 yards from running back Kanye Udoh and a perfect 4-for-5 performance on fourth down.
Coach Jeff Monken praised Daily’s incredible performance, saying he is the most valuable player in college football right now. The senior quarterback has rushed for over 1,480 yards this season, despite missing one game due to injury. If Monken had his way, Daily would be a strong contender for the Heisman Trophy.
Army will face off against Navy next week, which will also determine the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. With their perfect first season in the AAC and impressive playoff prospects, the Black Knights are looking forward to this matchup with excitement.
The team’s dominance on the field is not just about winning games but also about their performance under pressure. Coach Monken noted that Army’s offense may be simple to predict but hard to stop, largely due to Daily’s exceptional playmaking abilities. The senior quarterback has already proven himself as a game-changer in college football.
Army will extend to a ninth straight week in the AP Top 25 and looks forward to competing for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy against Navy.
