Army football has achieved a historic milestone, winning the American Athletic Conference championship for the first time in 134 years. The Black Knights defeated Tulane 35-14 on Friday night, with Bryson Daily running for 126 yards and four touchdowns.
The Cadets dominated the game from the start, jumping to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Bryson Daily had two rushing touchdowns in the first half, while teammate Kanye Udoh ran for 158 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Army did not commit a penalty or turn over the ball, showcasing its impressive defensive performance.
Tulane struggled with mistakes, including botched field goal attempts and turnovers, which led to Daily’s third rushing touchdown of the first half. The Green Wave failed to score until the final minute of the first half, highlighting their struggles on offense.
Army’s win cements its position as a top contender in college football. The team will face Navy next Saturday in a non-conference game that could determine the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy winner for the first time since 2017.
The historic championship marks a significant turning point for Army football, which had previously struggled in conference play during its seven-year stint in Conference USA from 1998-2004. Coach Jeff Monken has led the team to five consecutive seasons of at least eight victories and has brought back a winning tradition to West Point.
