Eurocopter’s latest helicopter model, the H125, sparked debate among sim pilots about its lack of trim functionality. Asobo’s response was that the variant modeled in the sim doesn’t have trim, but a closer look at the specifications reveals inconsistencies.
According to Wikipedia, the first AS350 B3e variant to be renamed as H125 was released under this designation. However, the original Eurocopter designations may vary across different variants, making it difficult to determine which specific model is being simulated.
Specifications provided by Asobo show a Turbomeca Arriel 2D engine and speeds ranging from 150kts to 140kts. However, when comparing these specs with those of the AS350 B3e, only the engine and range match. The maximum speed and service ceiling differ significantly.
To clarify the trim functionality, a flight manual for the AS350 B3 was consulted. The main differences between the B3 and B3e models are the engine and FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) system. Unfortunately, no information could be found on the trim feature for the B3e variant.
The mystery surrounding the H125’s trim functionality appears to be a combination of various design elements from earlier prototypes. Asobo may have taken creative liberties to create a unique simulation model, resulting in an inconsistent trim feature.
