Asia-Pacific Fights Back Against Deadly ‘Silent Pandemic’

The threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is becoming increasingly clear in the Asia-Pacific region. Once a hidden menace, AMR is now reversing decades of progress made to protect public health. The disease’s impact on common illnesses like tuberculosis, which claims many lives worldwide, is growing.

Two key experts warn that urgent action must be taken to combat this silent pandemic. Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala and Dr Catharina Boehme have spoken out about the measures countries should take to stop AMR.
