ASML Releases $230 Lego Kit of High-NA EUV Machine for Niche Fans

ASML, a leading manufacturer of semiconductor equipment, has released a new Lego set based on its high-end lithography systems. The ASML TWINSCAN EXE:5000 Lego set is priced at $227.95 and features 851 individual parts, including projection optics with a 0.55 numerical aperture (High-NA). This technology is used in the production of advanced semiconductors.

The set is part of a limited series of ASML-branded gifts, which also includes Christmas tree decorations. Real ASML lithography systems can cost over $400 million, making this Lego set a niche item. The TWINSCAN EXE:5000 is one of the leading extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography tools available in 2024.

The set’s complexity requires an engineering background to complete, and its small size belies its price. ASML has stated that demand for the set is strong, but orders are limited to one per customer due to high production costs.

This Lego set is not the first of its kind from ASML, with previous releases including the Lego ASML Skyline and TWINSCAN NXE:3400C sets. Those interested can still purchase alternative sets, such as a glass tree ornament featuring an NXT machine for $29.
