Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Series Coming to Netflix

Netflix has greenlit a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise Assassin’s Creed. The show, which is nearly five years in the making, will be developed under Netflix’s agreement with Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed.

The series, created by Roberto Patino and David Wiener, follows the secret war between two factions vying to control humanity’s future. The show’s logline reads: “A high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will.”

The show will explore pivotal historical events as its characters battle to shape humanity’s destiny. According to Patino and Wiener, the series is about “people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith.” It’s also a show about power, violence, sex, greed, and vengeance, but ultimately one that highlights the value of human connection.

The production team includes Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Matt O’Toole. The Assassin’s Creed franchise is one of the best-selling series in video game history, with over 230 million units sold. The Netflix series will be part of a growing trend of gaming adaptations on the platform, following in the footsteps of Castlevania, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Arcane.

The show is set to premiere on Netflix, although no release date has been announced yet. Fans can look forward to an epic adventure that honors the legacy of the Assassin’s Creed franchise while introducing its unforgettable worlds and timeless themes to new audiences worldwide.
