Ubisoft has leaked the first expansion for Japan-set Assassin’s Creed Shadows after announcing another delay. A 10-hour downloadable content piece called Claws of Awaji was briefly listed on the game’s Steam page, which will add a new map and unlock new content.
The leak comes as Ubisoft is ditching its Season Pass model and making DLC expansions like Claws of Awaji free for all players. The move follows practice shake-ups after Star Wars Outlaws underperformed and comes with the cancellation of plans to charge players extra for launch day.
Claws of Awaji’s name refers to a blank island on Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ world map, which is said to be inspired by Japanese mythology. The expansion will allow fans to delve into Japanese legends, a trend Assassin’s Creed has been exploring in recent releases.
The game’s delay again pushes its release to March 20, following previous delays. Assassin’s Creed Shadows faces significant pressure to perform well for Ubisoft, given the company’s recent struggles and investor frustration.
